Pros

David Dearie's leadership
Management that gets this is a global company
Working with people that want to win
Freedom to address challenges in a new way
Far less bureaucracy than under fosters

Cons

Management that's stuck in the past throwing up barriers to progress
Employees that long for the good old days
RBU/BBU matrix organization still finding its way

Advice to Management

Keep David on the road giving support to the changes he wants to make
Judge people by their actions instead of their words. I can easily identify managers that don't buy in to the vision... And so can lots of others!

    Pros

Great people to work with, strong brands and great hospitality sites.

    Cons

Senior management continue to want to run a global business from Australia and the regions continue to suffer from inept management as a result. Many great people have departed the business over the past 12 - 18 months, frustrated and fed up with the attitude of senior management, their unwillingness to listen, or fully comprehend regional issues.

Full bonuses have rarely been paid over the past 5 years as unrealistic targets are continually set for the business. Reporting lines all lead to Australia and support functions such as Finance, IT and HR are without local leadership and are floundering as a result.

The strategy implemented by Australia is a global strategy not a regional strategy and as such takes into account no regional conditions or performance, and as is often the case bonuses are not paid as a result.

    Advice to Management

Get back to a local management team who understand the market and conditions and get the strategy aligned to the region. Many great people will continue to exit the business unless there is a real change in how the business is managed.
