I have been working at TriWest Healthcare Alliance
Pros – TriWest is a government contractor that administers the TRICARE Benefit to active and retired military/military families. In the time that I have been employed with this company I have been very satisfied. I have been rewarded for a job well done and have received promotions within the company every two years. I have enjoyed my experience within this company because they have helped me to grow in ways that I feel would not be available to me elsewhere. The CEO, Dave McIntyre, truly values the work that each employee does and makes it a point to recognize the work that each department does. TriWest's involvement with beneficiaries and providers makes this company a recognized leader in the industry. As the mission states we do "whatever it takes" to ensure that the healthcare needs of military men and women along with their families are met on all leaves.
As far as compensation goes I would comment that this company is right on the mark. There is a designated team in the company that surveys the current employment market to ensure that each position receives the appropriate compensation. There is opportunity to be awarded bonuses depending on company/individual performance. The benefits package is excellent. By far the best benefits package I have yet to have at a company. Being a healthcare company there is additional incentives to living “healthy”. The more that you are involved in your healthcare the more you rewarded. The 401K again is exceptional in comparison to previous employers. I also would like to comment on the company EAP program. This is an additional benefit that is few and far between in companies today.
Cons – With any company there will always be a few “cons”. Because TriWest is a military contractor their leadership and workforce mirror the military mentality. This is not necessarily a con in my opinion however I have been provided feedback from employees that were not previously in the military regarding the company’s approach to various issues. Although I am not former military I still believe that TriWest works hard to resolve any issues that are presented.
Advice to Senior Management – Be direct with your employees. I understand that there will sometimes be issues that cannot be discussed with the general population however not addressing any outstanding issues can cause distress among employees. Not addressing issues fuels fire for the rumor mills and causes employee stress. Employees need to know that they can contact their leadership with any questions/concerns they have without feeling that it is not their place to question.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
