Trimble Navigation – “Company in transition”
Pros
As Trimble has made numerous acquisitions, it has taken a hands off approach in the initial months to properly integrate pre-existing methods and management structure. At the same time, representatives from the corporate office make the rounds regularly to make it feel like employees aren't alone on an island.
Cons
After the hands-off period the company doesn't do enough to work on morale. In the current economy even a token effort in this regard would likely improve productivity.
Advice to Senior Management
There seems to be difficulty separating the wheat from the chaff when doing the expected cost-cutting measures. Management should do a better job consulting with multiple levels of the organization instead of entrusting the task only to certain groups.
