Pros

The salary and benefits (health and retirement) were competitive. There are some very talented team members sprinkled across the departments. The project provided for fun subject matter.

Cons

Poor management. Horrible handling of internal conflict. No reward or appreciation shown to workers: 1) No compensation time following a 5 year development cycle. 2) Deserving workers often went years without a pay raise. 3) Royalties did not trickle down the chain of command. Tool sets were archaic and generally useless, and cross department support non-existent. Any suggestions to improve these things were met with censorship.

Advice to Management

Learn to respect, and enable your workers. You continue to push and ride the team into the dirt with the rapid fire update schedule. You aren't growing the user base as planned, but are instead burning out the team.

I have been working at Trion Worlds full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are some very talented and pleasant people working there. You get free drinks in the lunch room Salary was generous and the benefits were pretty good.

    Cons

Senior management doesn't know what they're doing. Constantly changing goals and priorities, with lots of turnover in middle and upper management. Cramped working conditions with many people doubled up in tiny offices.

    Advice to Management

Figure out what kind of company you want to be and where the heart is.

Hi there! You know, you make some good points and we agree. Trion San Diego shut it’s doors over a year ago due to some of the things you mention above. But, you know what, we’re a new place now, a ... More

I worked at Trion Worlds full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some very good people and some very good technology at the company. Pretty relaxed and the pay was better than average. Pockets of really great teams and people doing amazing work, that were unfortunately saddled with mediocre support and mired in too much politics to get much done

    Cons

Dis functional Exec team that was riddled with inexperienced and political individuals who seemed more eager to "win" a personal battle over internal turf than to actually do the right thing for the company. T
