I worked at Troutman Sanders

Pros

Great Salary; Great Reputation; One of the few "big firms" that gives new associates an opportunity to get invovled with important matters and direct client contact (the 2nd years are doing more "substantive work" than many 4th years at other firms

Cons

Too much "working the system" (great if you're a typical *** kisser); too many decisions made based upon comradery rather than compentency; not enough inter-group communication

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on putting Policies into Practice; there are so many goals and objectives of the firm that are great, but as an associate, we do not actually get the practical benefit of them. And, that is incredibly unfair and disappointing to those of us who had the opportunity to go elsewhere, but chose Troutman.
