I have been working at Truven Health Analytics full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

generous TOP Policy. flexible hours. Was a good company when Healthcare was part of Thomson Reuters. transitioning to a standalone company held by Venture Capital.

Cons

Bought out by V.C. now people are being laid off and job are now going to companies in India.
No room for advancement, no recognition, reviews are dictated everyone is Achieved. Even when you far exceeded. Equipment given to us to work on is 5+ years out of date.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

get rid of the current CTO, he does not know what he is talking about and manages to create more disdain for the company every time he talks.

    Pros

The pros are that you get to be a part of an organization that is doing dynamic work. The organization is plugged into the Healthcare world from national perspective and applies it to clients needs and strategies. There is a broad spectrum of job growth opportunity here from training, data analysis, account management, legal, and research.

    Cons

Training needs to be more of a focus. Years ago, it was, but that has fallen off. Need to communicate more and treat all employees the same. People here are competitive and if you are not up to speed on all aspects of healthcare there will be someone letting you know about it. Work long days for little recognition.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in your people. Everyone from Analysts up to Directors and everyone in between needs training. Technology needs to be used more broadly. When offering trainings that are days long, use WebEx as a tool to reach everyone (not just those you are willing to pay for travel to the site).

    Pros

Decent pay with okay benefits. Easy interview process. Occasionally tries to do things to improve the employee morale. Ann Arbor is a nice place to work.

    Cons

No communication with any levels. No recognition unless one is a favorite of management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate! Don't just say you understand! Ask people and really listen to them. Stop playing favorites and politics. Your employees are not your clients. We see what's really going on. Don't insult us by pretending the issues don't exist.
