Pros

Extremely smart coworkers, engaging work, opportunities to work on growth projects, room for upward movement, and flexible time off (but no carry over) and work from home benefits

Cons

Transition to VC ownership has been tough, especially for long term employees that are nostalgic for the "way things were". Two of the biggest impacts of this VC ownership has been the investment in training (technical and interpersonal) is non-existent, and the removal of the innovation culture that allowed for funding or creative and leading edge projects. Staff turnover has been high in recent months, with fewer replacements hired, meaning more work for remaining employees with no compensation boosts to support it. Decisions, even with excellent business cases to support them, can take FOREVER. The office culture is often "Dilbertesque" with nonsensical processes and strange management decisions.

Advice to Management

Be open and honest about our challenges. Being "cagey" is leading employees to believe that there is writing on the wall regarding our long term future that is not positive. Return the innovation structure to the organization in order to allow more visibility for small but profitable ideas from your extremely smart employee base.

    Pros

Groups move fast and escalation process of issues is good. Half of the employees here are managers or upper management, directors, managers, vice president for anything , senior directors, etc. I have seen people promoted who does not know anything but only have great connections/relationship to upper management. Overall, this kind of attitude is bad and there are lot of hard working employees who does great job and are not appreciated. Employee satisfaction , on general, is low. Most employees here are exceptional and gives more than 14 hours of their life a day including weekends and holidays for the company. This is not a great thing yet these same people are evaluated to be just achieved and barely given raises. The best you can have a raise per year , if you are lucky , is 2%. I would run away from this company given a choice soon.

    Cons

Culture of corruption and political games. No appreciation for employee's hard work or respect at least. Too many stupid leaders/managers who does not know how to lead. Less actual doers giving those who make things happen more load and have to extend beyond your working hours. Management does not know deviation from work/family hours. They think they own you. Lack of relationship between leaders and subordinates .

    Advice to Management

Its hard to give advice to management who does not listen and thinks they are on the top of the world. Employee relationship must be established so at the the time when you need them most they will work for you. You cannot expect them to be loyal to you if you treat them like a piece of garbage and do not appreciate them. - Needs to cultivate innovation instead of pleasing customers at the expense of employee. Loyal employee equals great work which equates to better business. - At the rate talented employees are moving OUT of this company, this company is going down.

    Pros

Great corporate culture - employees are professional, friendly and highly competent. Generous PTO policy. Tuition reimbursement plan. Many opportunities for employees to engage in corporate-sponsored activities.

    Cons

Relentless focus on customer-facing (revenue generating) issue means infrastructure is being neglected. Hiring freezes in many areas except the executive level. Maintenance budgets get frozen or cut almost every year. Continually being pressured to do more with less. Benefits options are limited and expensive. Executive level seems very disconnected from daily book of business.

    Advice to Management

Focus less on quarterly revenue as the only goal and rebuild the infrastructure and core services.
