I have been working at Tuesday Morning full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

As manager, you operate your store mostly without outside interference.
Corporate gives you goals, schedules trucks, and gives hours, but you decide the projects based on your store needs. Stay on top of projects and you will do great.
You must be self-motivated, and build your team.

Cons

Low payroll hours means the manager may have to put in more hours than the minimum of 45.
May inherit a store with poorly trained employees. Focus is on recovery and customer service which takes away from the projects that will sometimes sit on the back burner way too long.
Not alot of involvement from upper management means you also don't get alot of needed support.
Company has no programs in place to retain good workers. They would rather rehire for positions than keep the people in place who do their job.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bonus program that filters to the hourly employees. Pay on performance. Try to give raises that will keep up with the rate of inflation.
Quarterly, increase store hours so managers can work on long needed projects. Just a few extra hours for a couple of weeks would do. Practice more giving of the good instead of always taking away.
Motivate the managers instead of always trying to knock them down. Quarterly visits should be to both recognize what's good as well as set goals.

    I have been working at Tuesday Morning part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    They have interesting merchandise. Helping customers find what they want can be fun.
    It's never boring like some retail jobs. There is always, always, always, always, always, something that needs to be done.

    Cons

    Only have part-time hours. Have to do Everything, I mean Everything, from unloading trucks, opening boxes of merchandise and distributing to proper place in store, clean bathrooms, and other normal retail activities. Pay stinks at management levels. Very, very, very, high turnover of employees in store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Treat your employees better, not like they are thieves, or idiots, or slaves. Be realistic about what can be accomplished in a store when there are only 2 people on duty. Again, treat your employees better! You claim that exciting merchandise makes the customers happy. True, but you are forgetting the number one reason customers are happy...Good Customer Service! If employees are treated well and respected, and not being undermined by upper management, then they will be more content. Happy employees = better customer service= happier customers!!!!!

    Pros

    Good hours, some great customers

    Cons

    Too much expected for the pay.Only place I have ever worked that you had to strip an wax floors, with no extra payroll for help. Had to rent Uhaul trucks and move merchandise from one store to another, with no extra payroll.Delivery system sucks, POS is a joke.Even the new system is 15 years out of date.Get hurt on the job and you are a criminal.

    Get rid of all the Corp off staff staring with HR,give managers a decent pay.
