I worked at Tufts Health Plan full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

401K, education reimbursement, great cafe, gym inside building, 8 hours paid volunteer hours, organized cooperate events - such as volunteer days, peanuts and popcorn in the cafe for opening day of Fenway Park, weight loss challenges.

Cons

you need a LOT of patience to work in the call center, gym on-site cost $30/month, cafe food is over-priced.

I worked at Tufts Health Plan as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

-The pay rate for a call center starting out is pretty decent (15.75)
    - Incentived, and Bonuses if you follow call protocol.
.(However, part time hours are often given to new employees for the first few months which can be inconvenient).

    Cons

    -Fast paced and confusing
    - A lot of strange "characters" in the department, whom you probably would cross the other side of the street to walk and avoid.
    - Even with employee benefits, health insurance is still expensive with Tufts.
    - So called perks to employees (company gym, acupuncture, massage are all expensive).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be more communication between the different departments. The higher up's need to step out of there "ivory towers" occasionally and really involve themselves more in
"lower leveled" employees. There is a lot of unethical, and inappropriate behavior going on in member services.(and it's "sister departments". There is also many leery men, who often check out woman when they are walking which is very unprofessional.

This review is not one of a disgruntled fired employee. Rather, it is one of a former employee (who resigned after a year) . who wants to warn others from being blind sided by a company, that maintains a reasonably good name to the public, yet has terrible cross-department communication.

    Pros

Quality products and services. Good people who for the most part act with integrity. Good benefits and flexible work schedule. Company encourages employees to live a healthy lifestyle and provides the tools to support that.

    Cons

Management spends too much time in meetings, and therefore, cannot support staff when necessary. Management does not recognize or reward high performers. Organization does not address poor performers and high performers are left picking up their "slack".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Support staff when needed. Reward high performers and appropriately address poor performers.
