I have been working at Tufts University

    Pros

For the most part, the people who work there are decent. Management and HR not so much.

    Cons

Over the years, and especially CURRENTLY (this summer), long-time staff are being shown the door, while hiring new blood at two-thirds the salary. This is not a nice way to treat the people who gave their all to the university over the years. I agree with the comment below -- If you are not a male, this is NOT the place for you -- your days will be numbered as they continue to weed out the staff (older females) who have worked their way up to a decent salary and retirement benefits.

I have been working at Tufts University full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits. That's all at this point.

    Cons

IT used to be a creative, collaborative place to work, with great morale and excellent managemnt. This things are no longer true. Top-down, micromanagement is the way of life now, they only want glorified typists to do what they're told by non-tech-savvy upper management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Use your staff for what they were trained to do: design, build and maintain robust infrastructure. Include them in technical decision making.
