Was able to get a lot of Homework done. Was rarely bothered. Sat behind a desk and did homework the whole time.

Sick, dysfunctional, mistrustful culture (at least in my group)

I have been working at Tufts University full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

University environment, interesting people, nice campus, plenty of over-manning in some departments, very good bennies, campus wellness programs, lots of vacation time, audit courses - everything good you are supposed to expect from a university.

    Cons

    - Ancient, command and control management environment.
    - The strongest Us vs. Them culture for - management to employees I've ever experienced anywhere.
    - Lack of trust in employees by management and insane, almost comical micromanagement at all levels.
    - Many long time staffers in my group heading for the exits right now.
    - Multiple levels of management creates confusion among staffers. Most managers in my group are redundant.
    - When something breaks or goes awry, there is always the blame game.
    - Vacation? What, you didn't give us 4 months notice? Sorry, your vacation has been denied.
    - Did I mention they micromanage at all levels?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leave. You're useless. You create stress where none is needed. You create confusion where we've understood our job for years.
