Pros

Small enough to have a community feel; beautiful slightly suburban campus; good benefits; great students

Cons

Small size means limited opportunities for advancement in specific roles (it is the nature of higher ed that people stay in management roles for a long time) so with a smaller school, it is natural that there would be fewer openings. It is not Tufts' fault, it is just the nature of the beast. Good people have left, not because they didn't like Tufts, but pursued more senior roles at larger universities in the area.

    Pros

Some professors are great; students are cool people; lots of flexibility in your hours. In one lab in particular, I worked with a bunch of undergraduates and grad students, and we all got along very well.

    Cons

Some professors are hard to reach or non-responsive, but that

    Advice to Management

Dear Psych department: please pay your RAs! Even during the school year! Ha ha. But all in all, I'm very happy with my research assistant experience at Tufts--I'm even presenting a poster on my summer work this October!

    Pros

Grants: Graduate students becoming research assistant usually after first year. (Depends on the field, experimental areas in good shape)
If you need to travel due to your research you are paid extra, most of the universities does not do this.
    Small but specialized faculty
Management is concerned with graduate student needs, it is very easy to contact with them. They act quickly to solve the problem

    Cons

    Small Department
Not much different research options, it is good only if you are interested in a specific area
Offered courses are limited. Most of the students need to wait until a new elective course to be offered to finish course work

    Advice to Management

Management is good. They will be perfect if they could be a bigger department with more research options.
