Pros

Exciting to be even tangentially involved in a successful entertainment business. Thumbs up for opportunities for advancement up to a certain career stage. It's easy to get comfortable when you're challenged regularly but that can play against you once the challenges stop.

Cons

Advancement beyond a certain stage is obviously and heavily dependant on who your manager is at the time.

Advice to Management

It's easier to maintain good talent if you're willing to let go of some control and hand it over to proven successful employees. the worst thing you can do is recognize boredom and just chalk it up to a lazy employee rather than to an employee who can't find any way up. the good ones leave.

    Pros

    Prestigious organization and brand name -- everyone knows Turner and the name carries that cache. Great benefits (mobile discount, gym, educational classes on site, tickets to movie premieres) and base salary is extremely competitive. There is synergy among the properties and room to move inside the organization.

    Cons

    There is a lot of corporate red tape, many items/proposals "have to go through Atlanta first" and they don't move as fast as the NY team does, so it can be frustrating when you have a tight timetable.

    Advice to Management

    Empower higher-ranking employees to make independent decisions. Also make the hiring process more efficient and cut down to one month. Turner may lose qualified candidates because their hiring cycle is so intensive and long.

    Pros

    Exciting industry and good benefits

    Cons

    Reorganization of accounting structure has negatively impacted morale and quality of work product.

    Advice to Management

    Development of talent isn't really happening as much as Senior Management thinks it is. People in management positions are not developing their staff. Instead, they would just rather hire people who already have certain skill sets.
