Tyson Foods-Arkansas – “Tyson. Powered by Nepotism.”
3 of 3 people found this helpfulPros
Let's be honest - this is the poultry industry, not rocket science. All things considered, Tyson pays very well compared to other industries and companies where the work would be more challenging and intellectually stimulating. As a Team Member, you also have access to the Employee Store where you can buy comparatively cheap meat, though the quality has dropped as of late. The hours are not demanding - it is typically an 8 to 5 job unless you work in Operations.
Cons
Because the company is located in Springdale, Arkansas, there are a lot of people who work there that grew up together, were high school buddies, college classmates, in-laws, cousins, spouses, siblings, etc. It makes for a sensitive work environment because there are all these other interlacing relationships. Great company for a local person but not so much for an outsider. There is clear favoritism based on who you're related to - if you're related to an executive or you're an ex-Razorback football player...well, lucky you.
