I have been working at U.S. Cellular

Pros

- Career growth for proactive motivated people
- Very supportive management
- Open to feed back
-customers really are a lot happier than at our competitors
-touchy feely culture (but in a good way)
-becoming more competitive all the time
-Take employee growth very seriously
-Serious about serious talent

Cons

- Incorrect public perceptions about the company and its capabilities are still prevalent
-Very competitive industry, not for the people who can't handle constant change
-Work/ life balance is tough, but necessary to stay in the game

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to make the hard decisions to keep the company competitive. And, continue to do things that will make us different from other wireless companies.

    I worked at U.S. Cellular

    Pros

    They train you very thoroughly in customer service and keep employees up to date with technology.
    If the store is staffed properly they are very flexible with hours and the people you get to work with (in most cases) are usually some of the best people around.

    Cons

    Low pay, no real room for advancement, must work on holidays, often stores can be understaffed which can be overwhelming and offer no flexibility in hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The only bit of advice I would offer is to listen to the people on the front lines and if you want to appeal to the masses and grow then the devices they offer should be the latest and the greatest.

    Slow to react or adapt to market changes and challenges
    Fearful work environment
    Secretive and often manipulative

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Please listen to your front-line associates and their leaders. If there are challenges in the market, it is often NOT just a reflection of them. Market Leaders need to be evaluated with the same vigor as the customer facing leaders and associates. Turnover rate getting out of control? Look REAL deep into the cause......
