The FA's are great, but the internship program itself is lackluster.

Current Employee - Intern in Chicago, IL

Pros

The atmosphere is great; can't beat working in a skyscraper in Downtown Chicago. The people are also really quality.

Cons

The intern gatherings were mostly seminar styled gatherings, and there isn't much of an opportunity to meet more than a few interns over the course of the internship. It would be better if the interns could be gathered every once in a while for the sake of mingling.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have social intern events.

Great global for to work for, however, challenged by bad media headlines and lack luster profits.

Current Employee - Associate Director in Weehawken, NJ

    Pros

    Good people.
    Strong name recognition.
Internal mobility for strong performers willing to try new challenges.

    Cons

Headquarters is in Weehawken, New Jersey.
    Pay needs adjustment.
New management team (that joined from Merrill Lynch in 2009/2010) is naive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Move the headquarters to NY.
    Pay people more.
Acknowledge and promote consistent strong performers.
    Fix morale.
A strong cohesive home office will lead to the success of the branch network.

Current Employee - Director in Jersey City, NJ

    Pros

Work life balance can be good. Accommodating management.

    Cons

Performance reviews are a farce - objectives are set and can be met while performance reviews are relative to your peers. This leads to subjective reviews where management favorites are rewarded. Culture is poor as employees who are part of a cost center are viewed as a liability as opposed to value add to the organization.
