I worked at UBS full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Quick money and trade clearing.
    Access to many different products.
    Prestige of Swiss Banking.
Great marketing brand and very visible.
    Great mobile technology.

    Cons

The US Management does a terrible job of communicating with all of their employees, the feel is that you can call the US headquarters and ask 10 different questions 10 different times and get a different answer each and every time. Also, top management is too involved with one particular political party and I believe that is poor judgement as our leaders represent a large diversity of employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cool it on all the political party jockeying. Also, streamline your communication with employee and set consistency as a top goal.

Current Employee - Middle Office Associate in New York, NY

I have been working at UBS full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There is a lot of mobility within Operations at UBS. Trade Support has a close working relationship with sales trading.

    Cons

Compensation has been hard hit by the crisis and current environment. Mobility to the front office has decreased substantially over the years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase base salaries to increase employee morale. There is not a lot of movement in the job market so people are not leaving the firm, but that doesnt mean that people aren't looking for new opportunities (dissatisfaction with the firm is high within the IB)
