Current Employee - Clinical Research Coordinator in San Francisco, CA

I have been working at UC San Francisco full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

The faculty is really top notch, and highly supportive and collaborative, treats students and staff research associates well and provides them with many opportunities for growth and development.

Cons

High amount of red tape, little communication between administrative departments, hospital, and research labs, constant new and unclear rules/processes for administrative procedures. Not competitive salary and benefits package.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Enhance communication between departments, decrease inter-departmental organizational inefficiencies.

I worked at UC San Francisco full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Many opportunities for growth and learning. Good benefits plus random discounts on things like City Car Share, Sports Basement, and others. The shuttle system is also very useful and helps with getting around to the various offices/campuses spread around the city.

    Cons

Typical bureaucratic issues associated with working for a large, public organization. Explicit funding rules make it difficult for managers to use their own discretion with spending, including salary negotiations. Takes a longtime ice for paperwork to go through.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None.

    Cons

Salaries for postdocs are super low given how expensive San Francisco is.
