I worked at UCLA as a contractor for less than a year

Pros

- great teaching experience for PhD students
- opportunity to become very familiar with an area outside of your expertise
- opportunity to develop your own teaching and grading philosophy

Cons

- the quality of your experience greatly depends on the faculty member that you TA for.
- overworked sometimes; too many students per TA
- dealing with aggressive students when it comes to your grades

    Stimulating environment, good faculty, a cultured place, depending on the PI, low pressure

    Cons

    Can be slow; funding is always an issue, low pay
