I have been working at UCLA full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Great access to wonderful facilities and equipment. Environment where collaborations do actually flourish. Some undergrads are quite bright and hard working.

Cons

There is an occasional bureaucratic nightmare to deal with. Lots of forms to fill out and incredible hurdles to getting paid as a graduate student. I still don't understand why it takes five employees, several weeks, and a multitude of forms to set up my employment and get direct deposit going.

I worked at UCLA as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I liked that a lot of the workflows had already been figured out, down to the t, so it was very straightforward to dive right into the work.

    Cons

Not much of a challenge because all the work was compartmentalized and there was no exposure to other business areas.
