Relaxed atmosphere but 1/2 the opportunities are staff augmentation roles.

I have been working at UMT full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you want a career implementing Microsoft's Project Portfolio Mgmt tool there is no better firm to be in. You will be completely aligned with the firm's core competency and will have good career growth opportunities.
    Salaries are competitive.
    Good camaraderie among employees.

    Cons

90% of UMT's projects are 1-2 person teams so hard to get staff management experience.
Client's frequently perceive you being just the Microsoft 'tool configurator', and they keep you out of the business-facing roles where you could display more of your consulting value.
Partners will put you on staff augmentation jobs (generic PM, PMO, BA roles) just to have you busy, although the role may not align with the Firm's performance, and your career, goals.
Benefits include 1 week's maternity leave. Might explain why there is only 1 woman in the senior ranks (not a partner).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

to be an independent leader in the Project Portfolio Management consulting space don't be afraid to upset your Microsoft lead stream and become tool agnostic, and embrace partnership with other PPM tool vendors. All have their weaknesses, and MS EPM isn't necessarily always the best fit for all your clients!
