I have been working at UMass Boston as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

    Good environment.
    Academic organization.
I'm studying undergraduate here while working on small jobs at the university. I love the faculties and the environment. The location is near sea, it's beautiful.

    Cons

I think the school need to develop more. The school is pretty small, so it doesn't need much people to fill the job. As the school becomes bigger, it will need more people, create more jobs.

I have been working at UMass Boston full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Teaching eager young minds is an exhilarating experience. The students here are hardworking and many of them also keep a job and family while getting an education. Some stories are truly inspiring.

    Cons

Some colleagues represent the worst of the problems in higher education. They pander to the students in the worst way and inflate grades. They have fostered a culture where a student can ask for 'additional' assignment, which would boost the grade irrespective of what is submitted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Watch closely the learning of students and check who advances it and who damages it. With environmental changes like reduced state support and deployment of advanced technologies, the usefulness of the traditional higher education model is fast disappearing.
