I have been working at UNC Charlotte as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are friendly and well-intentioned. There is a stated desire to ramp up research effort.

    Cons

There is institutional dysfunction when it comes to facilitating research endeavors. It is a long and difficult process to get facilities such as electrical hook-ups or exhaust designed/approved/installed.

    Advice to Management

In order for faculty to bring in outside research funding, you must be willing to support their efforts to adapt existing laboratory space to their research needs.
