Former Employee - Assistant Programmer Specialist  in  Paris (France)
Former Employee - Assistant Programmer Specialist in Paris (France)

I worked at UNESCO as a contractor for less than a year

Pros

High compensation; Great supervisor; Great on your CV; Cheap language classes; Great community among interns and consultants; Had the opportunity to travel.

Cons

Understaffed; no opportunities to get a permanent position; a lot of long term staff loses its motivation; the environment is very "political"; the staff's academic level is not "top notch"; It is common sense that things don't work and take forever; Bureaucratic; Hierarchies. Fully aware that my rating of "satisfied" is the exception.

I worked at UNESCO full-time for less than a year

    Pros

-It's an international organization so you experience how things work
-There is alot of literature available for those interested
-It's a good name to have on your CV

    Cons

-As an Intern, you're given a limited amount of work and nothing challenging
-Too much bureaucracy and paperwork one doesn't really substantial work as an Intern unless you're in the HQ New York Office.
-it's unpaid; when the work involved is quite a bit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Be more open and have a transparent Intern programme
