I worked at UNICOM Government full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Good salary and benefits; focus on healthy living, great people. New facilities in 'green' building. Recognition of successes. Middle management pretty good managers, care about the people.

Cons

Too much turnover at the top, change of strategy every time someone new heads the company or units. Difficulty trying to integrate services with reseller culture.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick a strategy and stick with it. You need more than a few months to see if your strategy worked.

I have been working at UNICOM Government

    Pros

After 1 year you are pretty settled in and have seen it all. There is a diverse group of people to work with considering the size but you still get to work with the same people frequently. Small company allows for face time with management team. Independent atmosphere still offers you certifications in industry partner companies.

    Cons

Your only as good as your last sale. Yet, for a sales company, the sales team has the least amount of power. Company does not communicate a corporate strategy and offers no training to any emloyees, it is all OTJ and if you make a mistake it will get pointed out. Not very pro-active about supporting the sales team, which is the only team making money for the organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer pro-active support to sales teams. Train managers to be hands-on early in the process instead of just asking for status updates. Provide some guidance and training to staff.
