    Pros

Great salary, hight amount of PTO, benefits

    Cons

Constantly re-organizing with ever changing teams, "down-sizing" annually and then 3 months hiring new people, too process driven which does not allow for creative "just do it" improvements, no real candor- very cut-throat environment. Chronically understaffed leading to work stress and overload to reach "results". To survive, people just shut down....and no longer offer insight, ideas, because too many times it leads to "feedback" which is critical, and lacking in support to improve or develop. Culture from senior management is to close claims, period, even though they give lip-service to doing the right thing- it is all about the result at the end of the month.

    Advice to Management

Allow directors and managers autonomy to manage people and results- AVPs and VPs should stop micro-managing; reduce the frequency of manager/director changes, if a team is high functioning let it be. Recognize style differences and work to build teams where the individual styles gel together and with that of the management staff. Make sure feedback is given to "help" the individual, not to demean them, or as punishment.

    Pros

Pay is good for the area. Great benefits, including PTO.

    Cons

no job security - doesn't matter how long or how hard you work. Unum does annual house-cleaning which has everyone more worried about keeping there job rather than doing a good job. This culture does not build a culture of trust in the employees. Mgmt values your ability to follow orders more than your individual contribution. Promotions are based on the biggest 'yes man'.

    Advice to Management

Mean what you say, "we want to hear your feedback". At the next annual house-cleaning, remove the multiple VPs that are no value-added to the teams they serve.
