UPMC – “UPMC decent opportunity but still in Pittsburgh”

Pros

Stable employer in the area. There was never a dull moment in the finance area. We were always looking for new ways to cut spending or buy something else in the Western PA region. Good exposure if you do advance.

Cons

The environment was such that those with legacy relationships are rewarded more and given greater opportunity. Very spread out and hard to feel like you are part of the organization as a whole. They were so focused on the next deal it appeared they just did not care about the organization they just acquired.

Advice to Senior Management

Pittsburgh leadership is still in the 20th century in how to manage organizations. They still have old men's clubs and believe in the old boy network. They should allow new ideas and styles to help guide the organziation to evolve into the new world order of management.
