Good pay, Benefits, and Job Security; But not for me

I worked at UPS

Pros

They pay well, they almost exclusively promote from within, and they seem to have good benefits. The work is easy if you know what you are doing, and not much is expected of you.

Cons

The culture there was not for me. It seemed like a lot of the people there really didnt know what they were doing, but that was OK there. The technology was about 10 years behind, the work was pretty simple, but there was not much of it. Add that with rampant inefficiency and it becomes incredibly boring. If you prefer excitement and cutting edge tech, this place is not for you.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your employees seem to be quite content, but people are working to solve problems that were solved 10-20 years ago. Definitely NOT a tech company with trucks, just a truck company with old tech.

I have been working at UPS

    Pros

    -Stable Company
-Challenging work (depending on your group)
-Decent work life balance depending on time of year
    -Respectable vacation allotment

    Cons

-Pay for tenured employees may not be at the market rate
-Annual salary raises are LESS than inflation
-Very slow moving / slow to change company
-Lack of opportunity to move around / get promoted within Marketing Department
-Extremely / Overly conservative company culture
-Does a poor job with M&A activity and integrating newly acquired companies

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create / add new positions or compensate employees accordingly in order to allow movement within the marketing department. e.g.: There should be a position between supervisor and manager, and between manager and director.

    Pros

Great exercise, excellent benefits. You seem to trade off excellent pay for poor hours and vice versa. If you're in the van, invest in a nice pair of boots.

    Cons

Very cold, boring job for the most part. Poor loaders can make the day drag for a while. Eat heavy in the morning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You're making money hand over fist with eCommerce. Quit giving your drivers 13-hour days everyday. Maybe invest in a few more trucks and drivers.
