Current Employee - Supervisor in Brussels (Belgium)
Current Employee - Supervisor in Brussels (Belgium)

I have been working at UPS full-time

Pros

Professional atmosphere, interesting industry, a well-respected company in its field. The Brussels region office is small enough to get to know most people and build a network within different countries. Young, international and dynamic workforce at specialist and supervisor level.

Cons

Career paths are not clear, people are moved around into different jobs as needed. Old fashioned corporate style means it can be a bit stuffy and political. The company is so big, it's hard to get information or find out how to do things sometimes.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your "top notchers" better or you will lose them.

Current Employee - Part Time Package Handler
Current Employee - Part Time Package Handler

I have been working at UPS part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    If you are union:

Pay is decent compared to other entry level jobs
Benefits are amazing (takes 1 yr to earn)
Hub I work at, hard work is appreciated
    Job security
Opportunity for advancement if you are a hard worker, punctual, and don't talk back. I moved up from pkg handler to p/t sup. F/T jobs are rare but out there if you are willing to move.

    Cons

Union dues (about $40 a month for package handlers) but the medical, dental, vision benefits are amazing and included for free. Non-union benefits suck compared to union but are better than nothing!
Other union employees are lazy, especially tenured employees.
Only big hubs have tuition reimbursement
Low hours (pkg handlers work about 15-18 hrs a week)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more people and don't run a sort so lean. UPS is a fortune 500 company and can afford to hire more people. If there were more help, the turnover rate would be lower.

I worked at UPS full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Transparency, Extensive communication Channels, Platform to aceess top management.

    Cons

Centralized Decision making, relatively averse to public media in developing countries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fast track growth is required in Developing nations like India which is considered as opportunity hotspot for UPS. More penetration in Tier II & III cities, more branding, participation in public events, campus presence etc.
