Pros

UPS provides many avenues to improve your working skills, such as, education, experience in a particular field, and management positions.

Cons

UPS is a very demanding company. They expect their employees to give 110% every day, even on a person's bad days. No excuses!

Advice to Management

Management needs to be more understanding about their employees personal needs.

    Pros

The company places high value on seniority.. This is a "Pro" for anyone that is OK with being treated like crap for their 1st few years. There's a lot of good hard working people there, but they had to survive the company's meager wages to get to liveable wages... just like you will as a new employee

    Cons

1 - False Advertising & False Promises - They may "hire" you on paper with a specific pay rate, but this does not mean that you'll be working. In fact, you might just work one day a week for a few hours. 2 - Flat Union Dues - Referring back to the one day a week work week, you may have some very small pay checks. The low pay and hours combined with flat union dues means that you are basically working for free unless you work more than a few days each week. 3 - Disorganization - Expect problems in their administrative practices such as paychecks. 4 - Unfair Expectations - The company expects you to maintain availability even if they rarely have work for you. You have to plan your day just like your going to work, but you will end up sitting at home. Yeah, so don't even think about that 2nd job to help support yourself... UPS might need you that night!!

    Advice to Management

As part of your new hire practices, you should inform new employees that their schedules will vary and depend on the workflow. Advise them that new employees are basically a back-up for people with higher seniority. Also, remind them that they should expect to work for free for the first few months since they will have low hours and suffer from flat union fee deductions. I was basically forced to leave the company because I couldn't afford to keep volunteering my time. You cannot expect someone to be OK with working one day per week, pay flat union dues, and stay available for your the other four days. Just BE HONEST WITH PEOPLE!!! There's no need to punish people just because they are lower in seniority.

    Pros

Great people to work with. Good Benefits. Other than that just a normal place to work.

    Cons

Management doesn't follow it's own rules. Too much infighting between union and nonunion. Too many people left in dead end part time jobs.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees.
