I worked at UPS full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Sense of teamwork, employee parties and fun events, supportive people. Decent benefits and pay.

    Cons

Forty hours a week of almost constant abuse from incoming callers, with a few nice ones. As is normal in retail, the customer is always right so you just had to take the abuse unless it got really really bad.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give employees ability to stand up for themselves more.

Former Employee - Part Time Package Handler in Chapel Hill, NC

I worked at UPS part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

UPS pays pretty well and offers plenty of opportunities for advancement and raises. Working at UPS gives you a chance to see what you are made of, because you will have to work hard and you will want to quit often.

    Cons

The work is grueling and most of the management is under high levels of stress to increase profits. The stress levels in the management get passed down to everyone else. There is very little spoken positive reinforcement and most meetings consisted of discouraging language about the need for improvement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create a positive environment. Hire more supervisors to reduce stress levels of current supervisors. Hire more employees to help ease the workload to a more reasonable level.
