Current Employee - Part Time Package Handler
Current Employee - Part Time Package Handler

I have been working at UPS part-time (less than a year)

Pros

Working the pre-load, the shift ends early in the day giving plenty of daylight to take care of other items in your life.

Cons

If you start as a package handler, it will most likely be on call until you become permanent part time.

I have been working at UPS part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

UPS offers unlimited opportunites for those willing to wait their turn in line. Excellent pay scale and benefits for part time work.

    Cons

The work is rough by nature and sometimes common sense must be left outside the door.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at UPS full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Any good reason to work for UPS has been slowly eliminated.

    Cons

Work environment is disguisting. Restrooms are reminiscent of the one in the movie Trainspotting.. Benefits decline annually.. Consolidations, and hiring and promotion freezes are the norm - every year jobs are eliminated through attrition and not filled, ensuring every year your workload will increase.. A change to job grades last year resulted in many employees being told they were overpaid and would not get raises. Those who do get raises usually get dismal raises.
