Pros

Benefits, good initial training program, good atmosphere to work on your people skills and management skills if working within management

Cons

High stress, accountability issues, retention issues. If you want to move up in the company whether you want to drive or promote to management plan on doing the grunt labor for a long time, not an easy move.

Advice to Management

They might want to consider restructuring the training program for new supervisors, the information given is good and works but really has no help in regards to the operation aspects of you job. It works in how to deal with people, but lacks in how to deal with the actual operation.

    Pros

    Decent health insurance package
    Decent pay package
    Excellent job security
Most employees really care about the company
    Relationship with customers

    Cons

No good hours all shifts are a bad option
    Long hours
Upper management hanging on until they reach retirement age and just filling a spot because they have nothing to lose.

    Advice to Management

UPS for all intents and purposes runs itself, a large portion of upper management is clueless. They have either forgotten the business or quit caring when the company went public and they became instant millionaires.

    Pros

They typically only hire from within and the benefits are untouchable and reasonably priced. They also offer tuition reimbursement to allow further education.

    Cons

The hours can be long and very physical taking away from family time. If you have a passion for your degree they will not wavier on relocating you to a department that is not related.

    Advice to Management

Be more compasionate when it comes to family issues and you would create a better employee. Provide salary ranges with work titles because it doesn't have to be a big secret.
