I have been working at UPS part-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Pays for school
Builds strong resume
Learn to work with other and build a team environment

Cons

No gratitude ever
Poor compensation for the title of the job
Benefits have continued to dwindle
The union has too much control over the air district

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work life balance is good i have time to do what i need to
Compensation is fairly poor for the part time supervisors

    Pros

    As a package handler, you have:

    * An incredible comprehensive benefits package that you earn for free (after a year of employment)
    * Steady pay raises (either half-annual or annual, depending on the geographic area you live in)
    * A flexible work-schedule
    * Tuition reimbursement assistance
    * Job security (provided by Teamsters)
    * Opportunities for job advancement (either as union or management)
    * A good workout (if you're not oppose to sweat and grind out heavy work)

    Cons

    * Fluctuations in package volumes will have you work inconsistent hours week after week
    * Relatively low pay
    * Inconsistent work schedules may interfere with second jobs.
    * Job advancement requires you to put in several years
    * Seniority is not always rewarded
    * Wear and tear on your body due to the nature of the work
