I have been working at URS

Pros

Salaries seem in line or above average with other companies. Benefits package a tremendous improvement from BP Barber (company that was acquired by URS).

Cons

Communication is severely lacking and seems to be a cultural thing here. People are too territorial about clients and opportunities for BD and career enhancement limited to upper echelon. What should be a benefit of a large global company is not in that opportunities to work across offices and regions is negligible because every region is own fiefdom and structure does not seem to be set up to utilize other offices and expertises without severe hassles. Constant and excessive focus on utilization at expense of training, business development efforts.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Empower all your employees to be marketers and don't limit it to upper few. Lack of communication is creating bad morale. Keep employee development in mind and don't focus constantly on utilization without keep big picture in mind. Without improvements in these areas people will continue to leave, and there will be a mass exodus once economy improves and other opportunities present themselves.

    I worked at URS

    Pros

The benefits were okay. The tuition reimbursement program was helpful. The required training hours was also helpful. Ice cream breaks and pop corn breaks.

    Cons

They do not take advantage of the talent pool. They do not realize the kind of talent they have on hand. You send someone out for training but you do not use their skill to your advantage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Know the skills and talents that your employees possess. Try to develop their skills and promote them when necessary before looking else where.

I have been working at URS

    Pros

URS has a good benefits package, competitive wages, and is flexible with taking time off. Management is understanding of life happening outside the workplace.

    Cons

There has been a communication blockage, but new management is making a concerted effort to change this aspect.
