Overall, a good engineering company that works on a wide variety of interesting projects.

I worked at URS a company of AECOM full-time

Pros

Worked with a lot of intelligent, capable engineers with a broad depth of experience. Had the opportunity to work across multiple business lines, which was both interesting and kept the work fresh, and also broadened my experience.

Cons

As is unfortunately the norm rather than the exception in the large EPC business world, the company has a tendency to treat engineers and other professionals like "higher priced labor." That is, times are good when there are projects, but when things are slow, charging to overhead generally means you will be shown the door. Again, I don't believe this is unique to URS.

  2.

The lack of planning by management and proper distribution of workload between employees is not worth the high salary.

I have been working at URS a company of AECOM full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay is high due to supporting work in the Nuclear Field. Overtime is always paid (straight time).

    Cons

Lack of management at the Fermi II site allows the workload to snowball. Employees are not used up to their maximum potential. Young engineers are used to perform administrative tasks and to push paper instead of being properly trained on the technical aspects they need to succeed. There is no room for advancement in the company. If you are sent to the Fermi II site, you will be forced to stay at this location.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Plan the workload/projects appropriately to avoid everything becoming a crisis.
