Current Employee - Research Molecular Biologist
Current Employee - Research Molecular Biologist

I have been working at US Agricultural Research Service full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Excellent coworkers dedicated to solving pertinent issues for agriculture. Excellent community outreach and a high level of technological expertise to tackle multiple scientific questions/problems.

Cons

Government 'Red Tape' issues can significantly slow down research activities. The federal budget issues in Washington have a trickle down effect on what can and can't be done, so this becomes an issue to the real world Gov't employee on an annual basis.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do what you can to keep good talent around. Do what you can to get ride of arbitrary policies that limit employment duration times for various positions.
