Pros

Great chance to see the world, get out of town, learn a skill, and get an education for cheap.

Cons

I think people look down upon military members in todays culture.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Depends on your bosses. It is the military so do expect much negotiations.

Former Employee - Airborne Cryptologic Linguist in Omaha, NE

I worked at US Air Force full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Excellent Mission
    - Experience with different kinds of leadership
    - Solid relationships with co-workers
    - Solid benefits

    Cons

    - Promotion system, does not mirror expertise in job
    - Large amount of unmotivated, embedded leaders

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A hiring system more like the private sector where jobs are allocated based on a system of interviews and qualifications. Unit management would have the opportunity to hire whomever they wanted rather than having that dictated by AFPC based off rank.
