I have been working at US Air Force full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

I joined to travel and have had amazing opportunities to see the world. Excellent job security in our struggling economy. Excellent pay and benefits as well as being able to retire by the age of 40.

Cons

Deployments can sometimes be too often, keeping you away from your family for extended periods of time. You have to learn to deal with the rank structure which isn't for everyone. Things don't always make sense at the lowest levels but there is usually a reason.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good, improve the bad and don't cut the benefits.

I have been working at US Air Force full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Retirement eligible at 20 years. Vacation days accumulate at 2.5 per month. Salary is somewhat competitive vs. Civilian employment. Ability to deploy to both combat and non-combat locations.

    Cons

Deployments can take a toll on the family. Certain career fields provide better bonuses, some do not have bonuses. Promotion opportunities limited at higher rank.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give experience/seasoned employees the chance to command. It will produce far better results. Too many inexperienced commanders making mistakes can be avoided if these people had a few more years of experience. Don't worry about making the next General officer, put the best qualified candidate in the best position to get the job done right.
