Truly the very best reason to work at US Airways these days is that it continues to be a means to provide for your family.
Cons
US Airways pilots have carried this company through difficult times by taking the brunt of the pay reductions since 911. These Pilots continue to work under a bankruptcy era contract with pay reductions of 53% not including the cancellation of their pension program which when turned over to the PBGC was a 78% reduction in retirement funds. At the same time Management compensation continues to thrive as we saw recently when the current management team opened up their contracts and gave themselves a bonus program based on a system of how they rank in the industry which is dependent on the performance of the employees. "Management Does Not Recognize the value of its employees in a meaningful way and feels that is ok to reward themselves at the expense of it's very skilled and hard working front line employees."
Advice to Senior Management
Remember that this industry lacks visionaries. Providing economic stability in our industry may require diversification of our company through mergers and acquisition outside the industry. Do you want to be a true leader? Be the Airline Leader that takes its head out of the sand and finds a partner outside the industry who will bring stability and economic prosperity for the combined entity. Its your day, what you do with it will be your legacy!
