I have been working at US Airways full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Globally recognized company, a lot of great people people work here

Cons

Pays below market average, union culture, depending on the department-not a lot opportunities

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop letting the union step all over the company culture, pay at least market average, invest in top talent so that they will stay

    A company and CEO so obsessed with growth and personal gain it will leave an entire workgroup stuck at 2003 wages.

    Pros

    Flight benefits are great. Health benefits were very good.

    Cons

    Corporate culture is horrible. It's very negative and they don't pretend to think of you as anything more than a number.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get that contract finished already! How is it possible that it has been 10 years without any kind of cost of living increase for so many? How is it possible that so many people are working under antiquated work rules and systems? Make it happen.

    Pros

    There are flight perks where you can get free stand-by flights
    They reward loyalty
    Many opportunities if you put in the time
    401k matching

    Cons

    They overbook all their flights so you can't use the flight perks
    There is so much corporate red-tape and such poor interdepartmental communication that it's a wonder anything gets done.
    Very little interest in employee turnover rate
    Lower than average pay

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Embrace newer technologies and most importantly invest in your employees. Stop trying to sell the company and invest in making it a stand-alone airline.
