I have been working at US Airways full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

It's an airline job. For those who have been bitten, it's pretty much like every other airline. Flight benefits can be a pro, but flights are always full so it can be difficult to fly standby. There is a 20% discount if you want to pay for your ticket and fly positive space. Nothing outstanding about this company, but nothing that is horrible by comparison to other airlines.

Cons

Promotions to management are often based on inter-office politics rather than filling positions with the right people. There are also way too many managers and directors than necessary. Also, there is an 8% cap on how much of a raise you can get if you get promoted. This makes a lot of good people not want to get promoted because it's not worth the small raise to take on the added work load, hours and responsibility.

Advice to Management

Trim back the number of managers/directors and better select your leaders based on experience and ability to lead rather than based on politics.

I have been working at US Airways full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flight benefits if you can get on a flight, health benefits are great and in general the people that work there.

    Cons

Pay is the biggest con, especially if you stay with the company and climb the ranks. You can turn down a job only to have them hire someone off the street and start them with more money. Better to get the experience on a resume then go elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Your best employees want to stay with the company, so pay them the value they produce, not simply a certain percentage increase if they get promoted.

    Pros

Lots of Flying Time Reserve lines are pretty junior If you want to fly extra there is always plenty of flying

    Cons

Cannot drop a trip without picking up another to replace it If you drop a trip, the one you pick up must touch a day of the dropped trip. If you drop a weekend trip then the trip you pick up needs to touch a day of the weekend.
