I worked at US Army full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

- Outstanding pay and benefits
- Opportunities limited only by individual motivation
The discipline, drive, and commited work ethic that comes with service in the military are second to none. Even having worked for several years in a highly professional consulting firm, it is still easy to separate those who have served from those who have not based simply upon their overall job performance.

Cons

Inconsistent and sometimes toxic leadership make the process of transitioning from one unit to the next an oftentimes shaky affair. Greater effort is required from leadership to ensure the accuracy and fairness of the evaluations process to better identify leadership failures and remove them from service.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work to instill consistent and quality leadership from the lowest levels upward.

    Cons

Missing family, uncertainly where you might end up sleeping the moment you woke up every morning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have a problem with this Generation having to finish what we started in Iraq. Remember this is NOT like Vietnam, More like WWII. We were attacked NOT mopping up France's Failure.

    Pros

It sounds cliche, but being a part of something larger and more important than one's self is exceptionally fulfilling and rewarding. I miss it.

    Cons

Nobody joins the U.S. Army to get rich. Conversely, though, you won't be on welfare.
