Pros

The range of jobs to chose from is fantastic.
The environment instills great core values and a fantastic work ethic.

Cons

For those who do not like a lot of structure and discipline, the Army can be a challenge.
They take their procedures very seriously, even to the level of harming efficiency and productivity.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more open-minded concerning procedures. The old ways are not always the best ways.

I worked at US Army full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Sense of accomplishment and pride for yourself and your country. You get to see the world and meet some amazing people. The army takes you out of your comfort zone and makes you a better person for it.

    Cons

Some cons are that there are some bad NCOs on power trips and with all of the cutbacks in Washington right now it doesn't look like our army is going to be anything like want it use to be.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the junior enlisted. Most of them are smart and know what they are doing. Don't expect them to do anything that you wouldn't do. Be the best leader that you can be to mold their futures to in turn make a better army.
