I have been working at US Army full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Leadership training on the job and through mentorship. Diversity of people from all over the country and the world. You learn to be flexible, adaptable, to work and make quick decisions under pressure. Opportunities for personal growth through higher education and vocational training when made available. Team building, a lot of opportunity for travel and to work with foreign entities..

    Cons

A lot of politics as you go up in rank, the better you are at your job the more you work to carry those around you that are slacking (in most cases). Experiences whether good or bad can be completely dependent on the leadership you work for. Long days, weeks, months, years from home and family. uncertain schedules, uncertain control over career. High rate of PTSD, suicide, and mental disorders due to nature of the job. A lot of sacrifice (to say the least).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your Soldiers, care about more than just yourself. Remember that they are the sons and daughters of America and deserve your best efforts to have integrity and disciplined work ethic.
