I have been working at US Army full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Working for the government is rewarding. The compensation and benefits are great. Excellent retirement package and healthcare benefits even after retirement.
    Excellent job security.

    Cons

About 50% of the workforce is dedicated and the rest just don't care. Management positions are cooked for those who follow orders very well.

Hire the best qualified candidates and stop hiring friends and family members who most of the time are not qualified to fill the position.
