I worked at US Army full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Free housing, electricity, water, uniforms provided, travel opportunities, $4,500 tuition assistance in service, GI Bill, College Fund, & pride. And if you get hurt while you're in, the VA will take care of you for the rest of your life. Experiences may vary.

    Cons

Basic sucks, and being a private sucks, but as you gain rank life becomes better. Much better. But you'll definitely put in your hours. And if you have a problem with deploying, getting shot at, or shooting at the "enemy," please don't join. Experiences may vary.
