I have been working at US Army full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The values based environment. This is lacking in the civilian world and service members learn and experiance this through training and trial and error. Education and leadership opportunities are there for the taking. Honestly, there is no excuse not become successful.

    Cons

Family life does get stretched to its limits and causes a good amount of stress. That is par for the course. To many leaders are to personal. Military pay and retirement benefits should not be adjusted to suit the Federal establishment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you are more interested in awards, your personal vision is on the next higher position, and not on the task/mission or your soldiers/saliors/airmens well being; get out of the leadership business.
