Fantastic Opportunity

Former Employee - Partnership Specialist  in  Dallas, TX
Former Employee - Partnership Specialist in Dallas, TX

Pros

Great flexibility and independence to reach out to communities and partner to get a good count. Working with elected officials and community groups could be challenging but in the end it is worth it. I wish this was a permanent job as it would make the decennial census a lot more easier or at least you had a lot more ground covered, more groups involved.

Cons

It's the government so lots of paperwork.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the Partnership program as an ongoing initiative, will produce better results.

    Pros

Fair standards for job performance and fair pay. Opportunities for advancement. Good source for part-time and temporary work. Training is very thorough and management communicates through the ranks. When co-workers' vehicles were vandalized while canvasing in risky areas, they were reimbursed for the `cost of repairs, at least in part.

    Cons

Many positions are being eliminated sur to stupid federal budget cuts.

Current Employee - Local Census Office Manager

    Pros

Clear roles and responsibilities. Good opportunities for advancement. Pleasant work environment and fulfilling work because it is constitutionally mandated.

    Cons

Bureaucratic and rigid organizational structure. Limited ability to make significant change to how things are done. Technology is not up to date. Pay scale is good for government but not up to par with the private sector

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Processes are too rigid and this limits the ability of people to contribute and limits the ability of the organization to change. Can stifle creativity, motivation and interest.

    No opinion of CEO
