    Pros

In comparison to the qualifications required and the nature of the job, the pay was pretty good. The gasoline/travel compensation was also a plus.

    Cons

It was a job that required constant dealing with the weather as well as dealing with unwelcoming residents. There were often language barriers with residents as well. The training for the job was not sufficient.

    Advice to Management

The enumerator position should be automated

    Pros

I met some great people and I helped with important work that affects all of us in the United States, from elections to your GPS.

    Cons

Staffing levels are considerably reduced when the decennial census concludes. If you're looking for job security, wrong place! Some of the work is extremely boring and repetitive, but requires a great deal of attention to ensure that an error isn't committed. Management and worker churn can lead to redundant work and double-checking. Communications breakdowns can leave you in the middle of field and management disputes. Some managers were more concerned about pushing cases through than in whether a house was accurately ennumerated, and one told people to shred documents that had to be archived. Senior management eventually dealt with these abuses and sent in a really crack manager to oversee things, but the wheels turn slowly.
